The Collaborative Institute for
Leadership, Policy, & Advocacy
At the heart of The Collaborative, the Institute for Leadership, Policy & Advocacy equips young professionals and diplomatic leaders with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation necessary to shape policy, strengthen governance, and champion civic action locally and globally. Through research-driven analysis, practical projects, and direct engagement with civic leaders, policymakers, and experts in global affairs, participants gain real-world experience in addressing complex challenges in diverse contexts.
Tracks
Track 1: Leadership Development
Prepares participants to lead with integrity across sectors — from community initiatives to government, nonprofits, and multilateral spaces.
Focus Areas:
Ethical leadership, community organizing, and coalition-building
Public speaking, negotiation, and strategic communication
Cross-cultural leadership, diaspora engagement, and workforce capacity-building
Track 2: Governance & Policy Analysis
Equips participants to analyze governance structures, power dynamics, political discourse, and ideology to craft solutions that advance equity and institutional reform.
Focus Areas:
Comparative governance, public administration, and institutional reform
Political discourse analysis, power structures, and ideology framing
Policy research, writing, economic development advising, and impact assessment
Track 3: Global Advocacy & Civic Action
Empowers advocates to design and lead campaigns, strengthen civic movements, and engage across cultures to advance social justice and human rights.
Focus Areas:
Civic education, grassroots organizing, and coalition-building
Social justice, human rights, and media/digital advocacy
Global affairs, cultural diplomacy, and multilateral engagement
Track 4: Leadership in Diplomacy & International Affairs
Develops and strengthens the capabilities of emerging and current diplomats, international professionals, and leaders by fostering expertise in international relations, diplomatic practice, and global policy. Participants acquire the skills and ethical foundation necessary to navigate complex geopolitical environments, foster peaceful collaboration, and address contemporary global challenges.
Focus Areas:
Advanced Diplomatic Skills & Practical Application: Negotiation, strategic communication, conflict and crisis management, cyber warfare, combating terrorism, and experiential learning through case studies and simulations.
Comprehensive Global Understanding: International cooperation, international law, human rights, political economy, power dynamics, ideological differences, and the roles of international organizations.
Ethical, Character-Driven Leadership: Integrity, respect, and commitment to ethical conduct as the foundation for effective diplomacy in a complex world.
Custom Training & Professional Development
All Institute tracks can also be tailored and delivered as professional development programs for embassies and diplomatic missions, government agencies, multilateral organizations, businesses, and community-based institutions seeking to strengthen leadership capacity, policy expertise, and cross-cultural engagement within their teams.
The Summer 2025 Cohort will run from July 7 to August 15, 2025, with a hybrid format that includes both virtual and in-person sessions. Applications open on June 15, 2025.
