Leadership, Policy, & Advocacy

The Institute for Leadership, Policy & Advocacy is the training and professional development division of The Collaborative. We prepare students, young professionals, and emerging diplomats to lead with integrity, analyze systems of power, and advocate for effective and inclusive policies in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Participants engage in immersive learning experiences, including policy labs, advocacy campaigns, leadership workshops, and dialogues with policymakers, diplomats, and global experts.

Learning Objectives

Lead with Integrity and Strategic Vision

  • Develop values-based leadership grounded in ethics, public service, and cross-sector collaboration.

  • Strengthen skills in decision-making, coalition-building, and civic engagement.

Understand Governance and Institutional Power

  • Examine systems of government, public institutions, and global governance structures.

  • Analyze political discourse, ideology, and the dynamics of inclusion and exclusion in policymaking.

Design Policy Solutions that Drive Change

  • Learn to research, draft, and effectively communicate policy recommendations.

  • Apply analytical tools to assess social challenges and craft innovative policy responses.

Advance Advocacy, Civic Action & Social Impact

  • Build capacity to lead civic movements, advocacy campaigns, and community-based initiatives.

  • Gain real-world experience in public speaking, media advocacy, and grassroots organizing.

Develop Global Fluency and Diplomatic Skills

  • Explore international relations, diplomacy, and cultural engagement in global contexts.

  • Practice negotiation, cross-cultural communication, and multilateral collaboration.

Youth Arise: Young Leaders Mini-Cohort

Youth Arise is an introductory leadership and policy program for high school students. Through workshops, debates, and hands-on projects, participants develop skills in public speaking, civic engagement, and global awareness. The program fosters ethical leadership and provides early exposure to governance, advocacy, and diplomacy, preparing students to be thoughtful and informed changemakers in their communities and beyond.


Custom Training & Professional Development

The Institute for Leadership, Policy & Advocacy offers customizable training and professional development programs designed to meet the needs of embassies, diplomatic missions, government agencies, multilateral organizations, private sector partners, and community-based institutions. Drawing from our core learning objectives, these tailored experiences strengthen leadership capacity, enhance policy and governance expertise, and build intercultural fluency across diverse teams and sectors.

The Summer 2025 Cohort will run from July 7 to August 15, 2025, with a hybrid format that includes both virtual and in-person sessions. Applications open on June 15, 2025.
